Editorial policy

Films Discourse publishes box office analysis, news, reviews and features about Indian cinema, series and reality shows. These are the standards every article follows.

Our own work first

Most of our writing is built on our own data: advance booking and live tracking, day-by-day collections, reader predictions and the HypoMeter. We aim to tell readers something they can't get elsewhere, such as how a film's bookings compare with others at the same point, or what its numbers say about its run.

Research and checking

  • Figures in articles are checked against our own tracking and our box office pages before publication. Each figure says what it covers, for example India nett, ₹ crore, day 3.
  • Release dates, cast and crew are checked against official announcements from the film's makers.
  • We don't publish rumours as fact. When something isn't confirmed, the article says so.

Fact and opinion

News and box office articles report what happened and what the numbers show. Reviews, opinion pieces and features that give a view are labelled with their category (Review, Opinion, Feature), and the views in them are the writer's own.

Crediting other outlets

When an article relies on information first reported elsewhere, such as an interview or an official statement, we say where it came from, and we add our own reporting or analysis rather than repeating the report. We don't copy other outlets' text, and pictures are credited to their owners.

Reviews

Our reviewers watch the film or episodes in full before reviewing. Reviews are independent: no film, studio or platform sees a review before it is published or can change it. Reader reviews and ratings are shown separately from ours.

Independence and advertising

Advertising is kept separate from editorial work. Advertisers and partners have no say in what we write or which figures we publish. Any sponsored content would be clearly labelled as sponsored. See advertise with us.

Bylines

Every article carries the name of the person responsible for it. You can find our writers and editors on the editorial team page.

Corrections

When we make a mistake, we correct it. Read our corrections policy, or report an error there.
